Things to do in the Altoona Area

Altoona, Blair County has a variety of sports and recreational activities for you to enjoy. Baseball fans can take in a ballgame, golfers can enjoy one of the many golf courses, ATV adventurists are able to ride trails and families with young children can have fun at one of several fun centers for kids!

Many of our museums offer a real educational and interesting insight to the railroad industry, while some take you on a trip back in time and others feature rotating art exhibits. Many of the museums host special tours and events throughout the year. For hours, rates and special event calendars visit each museums’ website.

Blair County is home to two amusement and water parks. DelGrosso’s Amusement Park is well known for “American’s Best Amusement Park Food” and hosts Harvestfest every September. Lakemont Park is home to the world’s oldest wooden roller coaster, Leap the Dips. The park hosts Holiday Lights on the Lake from Thanksgiving through the New Year. Both feature water parks. The parks are only 20 minutes apart and are easily accessible off of Interstate 99.

All season resort offers winter skiing, snowboarding, a tubing park and cross-country; in summer, golfing, hiking and mountain biking are popular activities.

Plan your next conference, meeting or special event with the Blair County Convention Center. Located in Altoona Pennsylvania the Blair County Convention Center is an exceptional venue.
